6The 2006 Cycles Gladiator Pinot Noir, from California’s celebrated Central Coast appellation, begins with a signature black cola aroma and a hint of spice on the nose. This vintage, with classic Pinot Noir attributes, continues with silky notes of vanilla-infused wild berries that fill the mouth with soft, velvety tannins counterbalanced with perfect acidity. Full flavors of cherry and plum follow through to the pleasing finish of this food-friendly wine that is able to stand up to a number of rich foods.
Following an extended growing season, this wine began as fruit plucked from the vine in the cool early morning hours when the grapes were at full maturation and optimal ripeness. The full and voluptuous coastal climate flavors were immediately captured and now open beautifully from the finished wine in the bottle.
Try it paired with grilled sturgeon on a bed of parmesan risotto with buttered carrots and green beans or enjoy with Chinese takeout such as egg rolls with plum sauce or Kung Pao Chicken. |
