Wine Spectator - 90 Points
"Black cherry and blackberry flavors are framed by smoky chocolate oak in this modern red, which is taut and focused, with firm tannins and bright acidity. Drink now through 2012. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. 10,000 cases imported. –TM" Wine Spectator
Vina ZACO is a great new example of modern Rioja from a winery with a rich tradition in the region!Appearance is intense, bright cherry with violet hues. Nose has an initial dominant notes of black fruits, violets and liquorice followed by the underlying spicy notes of barrel ageing - vanilla and clove. Palate is full-bodied with a long, fresh finish.Bodegas Bilbainas is a historic winery who's origins date back to 1859. It is the largest vineyard owner in Rioja Alta and the largest to have all of its vineyards located in the tiny municipality of Haro. Bodegas Bilbainas has vineyard holdings in excess of 500 acres so they have the best options when it comes to fruit selection for their own wines.
